About
Ira Christmas is a Durham, North Carolina–based photographer creating intentional, publication-ready work that transforms everyday moments into something striking and memorable. His photography blends color, surrealism, and painterly detail to produce images that feel both grounded and otherworldly.
His work has been published in magazines, books, and online features, and exhibited in local galleries. Two of his photographs were selected for the permanent collection at the Archive of Documentary Arts in Duke University’s Rubenstein Library. Ira has also collaborated with designers on fashion lookbooks presented during New York and Paris Fashion Week.
At the core of his work is a simple idea: photography as a way to reframe and reimagine reality. Whether working on editorial portraits, creative collaborations, or personal commissions, Ira creates space for clients to express something real, bold, and uniquely their own.
His portfolio spans raw, human-centered portraiture and expansive landscapes, unified by a focus on soft yet powerful beauty and a deep sense of place.
